Hi, there! I’m Jed, a nine-year-old chocolate lab living my best life in one of the greatest dog friendly communities in all of Texas—The Highlands! As a self-described social animal who loves to play, have fun, and explore, I can’t imagine a better place to call home. Here at The Highlands, “where life shines brighter,” there’s always something exciting to do and see. With so much to sniff and so many places to roam, there’s never a dull day for a doggie like me. Let me take you on a fun-filled adventure while we explore some of my favorite spots. Trust me: It’s a tail-wagging good time!
My Morning Stroll Around Mirror Lake

My day starts with a refreshing walk around Mirror Lake Park. I love seeing neighbors fishing or kayaking on Mirror Lake. The water sparkles under the sun, and the air is fresh and full of exciting scents. Sometimes, I spot my friends walking by, and we exchange happy barks. My owner loves starting the day with a stroll around the lake too, catching up with friends and neighbors along the path each morning. It’s the perfect start to anyone’s day.
Playtime at Paw Print Dog Park
Next stop, the Paw Print Dog Park! This is the highlight of my day, and I can’t contain my excitement! The moment I see the park, my tail starts wagging uncontrollably. I get to run, play, fetch, sniff, and catch up with all my doggie friends. And once inside the gates, I don’t even have to wear my leash! We chase each other, show off our newest toys, and have an absolute blast. Our owners seem just as thrilled to watch us having fun. This is the brightest, bestest spot in all of The Highlands. If you’re looking for a paw-some spot, Paw Print Dog Park is it!
Adventure Awaits in The Preserve!

Once my owner is home from work, we take our afternoon walks. We often head down to The Preserve for a little walking adventure. I love walking the trail all the way to the San Jacinto River. The sights and sounds are so peaceful. Dipping my paws in the cool river water is my favorite way to chill out and beat the heat. Plus, it’s a great way to discover all the interesting smells of nature. This is a must-visit for any nature-loving pup, with miles of trails and endless adventures to enjoy!
So Many Friendly Faces at the Visitor Center!

No walk is complete without a stop at the Visitor Center to see my friend Tess. She always greets me with treats and lots of pets. I love visiting her because she makes me feel like a superstar! If you’re ever in the community, be sure to drop by the Visitor Center. Tess will give you all the information you need about the community and, of course, a warm welcome!
